Koshland Garden is the home base of CommunityGrows. CommunityGrows is an environmental education program serving high-needs youth, especially those living in public housing in San Francisco. Youth acquire the necessary skills to live a healthy life through garden education, nutritious cooking and eating, and green jobs training. Come visit us in the garden soon!

SEED TO MOUTH RECIPES
We have the delightful and delicious good fortune of partnering with Alice Cravens, the owner of Modern Tea, for our Seed To Mouth cooking class.
The Seed to Mouth cooking class integrates gardening skills with cooking experience. Students from the Western Addition Beacon after school program become familiar with the process of growing food, putting it on our plates and then into our bellies with the help of the professional chefs at Modern Tea and garden educators from Koshland Garden.
This class is a blast for everyone involved! Try out some of our recipes in the labels section of this blog, including home-made pasta, Gonzo burgers, and Koshland-grown collard greens!

Water
Many things can help the garden and it is very important and so is the waterfall.
It is important so we would at least be able to live. Water is very important.
Water is one of the healthiest drinks. Water was the first drink we had. Our body is mostly made out of water.
If we didn't have water, we would have died quick. If you think water is not important then you will regret it. You should always have water all the time. It's so we will be safe and so we will also have a great life.
Water in the garden is also important. Did you know most of the stuff was from the farm and garden?!
Water is also important for animals. Water can be used in many different ways. If we didn't have a garden we would also die. But if we have a garden like right now we would eat healthy, have new things and try new things.
Water can also be used in the river, also just like a waterfall.
(There are lovely illustrations included here, we will try to get a good copy and upload them)

This writing is from a rainy-day project where Ms. Hale's class asked to make scrapbooks as part of their garden goals for the year. The scrapbooks were super fun to make and came out very creative- and on top of it all they were made from all from recycled materials found at SCRAP!
